Financial Assistance
The Indiana Choice Scholarship Program provides qualifying families in Indiana with a financial voucher to offset tuition costs at a participating private school of their choice. You may also hear it referred to as the State Voucher Program.
In the 2023-2024 school year, 97% of families were eligible for an Indiana Choice Scholarship.
Eligibility requirements are:
- Maintain legal residence in Indiana.
- The student must be at least 5 years old and less than 22 years old on or before October 1 of the school year.
- The student must be a member of a household with an annual income of not more than 400% of the amount required for the individual to qualify for the federal free or reduced price lunch program.
n 2024 this amounted to a family of four who received up to $230,880 annually would meet the financial requirement for a Choice scholarship.
With the Indiana Choice Scholarship program, students receive vouchers to use toward their non-public school tuition at participating schools. This program aims to make additional types of schools and education more accessible to families and students who might benefit directly from what anon-public school has to offer.
State or School-based Financial Aid
The Indiana Tax Credit Scholarship program is a privately funded scholarship that helps cover the costs of attending a non-public school. Funding for Indiana Tax Credit Scholarships comes from private, charitable donations to qualified scholarship granting organizations (SGOs). The SGO for all Catholic Schools in the Diocese of Evansville is the Institute for Quality Education (IQE).
Students who do not qualify for an Indiana Choice Scholarship Program voucher often qualify for a Tax Credit Scholarship.
Because the Tax Credit Scholarship Program is privately funded, it’s critical for schools to advertise and promote this program so individual donors and corporations are educated on the benefits. In addition to providing critical scholarships to students, donors to this fund receive a 50% state tax credit.
Individual School-based Financial Aid
School-based financial aid programs and private donations may be available at your Catholic school. So be sure to ask about this type of assistance. This additional assistance is typically based on need or other eligibility criteria and is offered when other forms of aid are not available to families.
